Focus and Scope

The International Journal of Education and Theoretical Research (IJETR) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the field of education.

Focus

The journal's primary focus is the publication of original theoretical work, empirical research with robust theoretical implications, and critical literature reviews. IJETR aims to provide a premier platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to disseminate and engage with novel conceptual frameworks, rigorous empirical tests of theory, and critical analyses of the foundational assumptions and propositions within educational studies.

The journal seeks to:

  1. Disseminate Theoretical Research: Publish high-quality articles that develop, refine, critique, or synthesize educational theories.

  2. Bridge Theory and Practice: Feature empirical studies that are explicitly grounded in theory and contribute to its validation, extension, or reformulation within practical contexts.

  3. Foster Critical Discourse: Serve as a leading international forum for scholarly debate, conceptual analysis, and in-depth synthesis of literature concerning fundamental and emerging issues in education.

Scope

IJETR welcomes high-quality submissions from a wide range of disciplines and interdisciplinary fields relevant to education. The scope encompasses, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Philosophy of Education: Philosophical analyses of the aims, values, ethics, and epistemological underpinnings of education.

  • Sociology of Education: Theoretical and empirical studies on the relationship between education, social structures, inequality, social mobility, and systemic change.

  • Educational Psychology: Theories of learning, cognition, motivation, human development, and individual differences in educational contexts.

  • Curriculum Theory and Pedagogy: Conceptual development, critical analysis, and implementation of curriculum design, instructional models, and pedagogical practices.

  • Educational Leadership and Policy: Theoretical analyses of governance, administration, organizational theory, leadership models, and the formulation and impact of educational policies.

  • Educational Technology: Theoretical explorations and critical examinations of the role of technology, digital media, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming learning processes and educational institutions.

  • Multicultural and Global Education: Theoretical discourse on social justice, diversity, equity, inclusivity, and the implications of globalization for educational theory and practice.

  • Educational Research Methodology: Articles addressing the theoretical, philosophical, and ethical assumptions underpinning research paradigms and methods (e.g., epistemology, ontology, and axiology in research).

  • Teacher Education and Professional Development: Theoretical models and empirical research concerning pre-service and in-service teacher training, mentoring, and continuous professional learning.

Types of Manuscripts

IJETR invites submissions of the following types:

  • Theoretical Papers: Articles that present new theoretical developments, significant critiques of existing theories, or innovative theoretical syntheses.

  • Empirical Research Articles: Original, unpublished reports of qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research that are strongly grounded in theory and make a significant contribution to theoretical understanding.

  • Review Articles: Systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, or in-depth conceptual reviews that analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the current state of a specific theoretical field in education.

  • Critical Essays / Book Reviews: Scholarly critical analyses of recently published, influential books or significant works within the field of educational theory.
